A contingent of RCA comrades—including students and workers from Temple University, University of Pennsylvania (Penn), Drexel University, and the Community College of Philadelphia—joined the Palestine solidarity encampment movement across the city.

When a comrade gave an impromptu speech during a walkout at Temple, someone immediately came to us echoing our seriousness about overthrowing US imperialism and expressing frustration that the broader movement’s demands aren’t going far enough.

Comrades from the RCA cell at Penn joined another group of protesters at City Hall. They had a ton of success agitating among attendees. The protesters marched to Drexel and Penn, where they started the Penn encampment. Communists from across Philly descended on the campus with Bolshevik-Leninist literature and sign-making materials.

The reception to our ideas was phenomenal. A constant stream of interested people came to our table. Students and campus workers were hungry for communist ideas, which was reflected in strong sales of The Communist and our “Palestine: A Revolutionary Way Forward” booklet.

A few anticommunists approached us demanding we leave because “no one wanted us” in the movement. We held our ground, proposing that they organize a vote so everyone could decide. They left us alone after that.
