Communists understand that imperialist peace is only the prelude to renewed imperialist war. That’s why the Phoenix RCA joined other organizations on April 5 to protest with one message: End the genocide in Gaza!
Since October 2023, events have escalated and radicalized millions of people. When our comrades asked protesters why they were here, a common reply was: “I have no interest in the killing of workers across the globe. This is being done by the billionaires and their government.” In the wake of a failed ceasefire, the conclusion is finally setting in: this system cannot stop the genocide.
Our conversations also revealed a lack of clarity on the direction of the movement. Many called for a ceasefire, one- and two-state solutions, etc. We explained that this genocide is the product of the decaying capitalist system. Therefore, we have a duty to build a revolutionary party in the US to overthrow imperialism and aid the revolutionary struggle of the Middle Eastern masses.
Our message was very well received. In total, we sold $93 worth of communist literature. Many attendees were already familiar with the RCA, and enthusiastically signed up to learn more and get involved.
